Getting Help
If you or someone you care for is dependent on not only marijuana but alcohol or other drugs and needs treatment, it is important to know that no single treatment approach is appropriate for all individuals. Finding the right treatment program involves careful consideration of such things as the setting, length of care, philosophical approach and you or the user's needs. There are also facilities made just for marijuana addicts Treatments for marijuana dependence were much the same as therapies for other drug abuse problems. These include behavioral therapies, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, multisystemic therapy, and individual and group counseling. If someone you know does have a problem with marijuana, seek help for this person either by confronting them about it, going to their parents, or talking to someone close to the person.

Consequences
Trouble With Parents
Consequences of marijuana involving parents can last up until the day you move out. Parents may lose trust in you and will most likely place stricter rules on you, including things such as hanging out with your friends, what friends you hang out with, your curfew, and what activities you do.
Criminal Consequences
If you are caught selling, growing, or just in possession of marijuana it can be classified as a misdemeanor or felony in some states. Some of these charges are not much but do go on your permanent record for any future employers to see.
Other Consequences
Other consequences can include anything from your health, friends, or even your career. Marijuana is often referred to as the gateway drug. This means that when you use marijuana, it can lead you to extremely harmful and addicting drugs. 90% of heroin users had used marijuana before they did heroin. Even larger consequences are placed when using these types of drugs.

Distribution
Getting Away With it
Marijuana can be distributed almost anywhere. There are many different ways a person can distribute this drug. People may hide it away in some kind of container and sell that to a customer, giving no indication of the drug deal. Some of these containers could be anything from vehicles to chap stick. Using these types of methods, marijuana can be sold and bought in places someone would not expect.
Different Ingredients
Whenever someone receives a drug they had bought, they have no idea where it has been or where it came from. The drug could be passed down from 10 other people. In this case, it can be possible that from each person that had the drug before would take some of the drug and then add some of their own ingredients to make it the same value it was before. Therefore, you can't always tell what exactly is in the drug.
Unsafe Distribution
Planning to sell or buy the drug from someone they don't know can put them in danger. If a fair negotiation is not met between the buyer and seller it can turn out to be a disaster. In this case, a fight could easily break out resulting in either injury or maybe even death.

Financial
Losing Money
When a dependence is built on marijuana the user will use whatever is left of their money to obtain the drug. They may even go into their own saving such as for college to get the money. Users could also be in debt to dealers and can put them in danger with those kind of people. They might even have to trade valuable possesions in order to pay off these debts.
Getting Money
Sometimes when an addict doesn't have enough money for the drug they will steal it from other people. These people could be friends, relatives, and even people they don't know. Addicts might even sell possesions to earn money to buy marijuana.

Social Effects
Effects on the Family
When a person becomes dependent on marijuana, they become isolated from their family. The users family may be "enabling" him or her to continue their drug abuse by avoiding the fear, anger, suspicion, or guilt that they might feel about the dependence of the family member. Instead of seeking health, they might make excuses, change family plans, and take over some of the user's responsibilities. They also may keep the user away from the consequences of their dependence. Dependence on any drug is a "family disease".
Effects on Others
When someone is dependent on marijuana or any other kind of drug it becomes their number 1 priority. A user might exclude friends that don't go along with their drug use and may also cancel plans with others to use the drug. Overtime, the user can lose many friends and also the respect he or she had before the drug use. The user would then start making new friends that also do drugs then making it harder for the user to quit.
Effects on School
Any time a drug is used frequently during a time of rapid growth is a health concern. Marijuana affects reasoning, judgement, and the opportunity to learn. Some of the effects of marijuana that affect school are low energy, lack of ambition, lack of intrest in school activities, short term memory, and a lower achievement level.

Effects on the body and mind
Effects on the Mind
The drug marijuana mostly is used for its effects on the mind. The main ingredient in marijuana, THC, acts on cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells and influences the activity of those cells. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors, but other areas of the brain have few or none at all. Many cannabinoid receptors are found in the parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thought, concentration, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement. When high doses of Marijuana are consumed, hallucinations, delusions, impaired memory, and disorientation are some of the symptoms that can occur.
Effects on the Body
There are also physical effects from marijuana. Within a few minutes after smoking marijuana, the heart begins beating more rapidly and the blood pressure drops. Marijuana can cause the heart beat to increase by 20 to 50 beats per minute, and can increase even more if other drugs are used at the same time. Since there is a higher heart rate with a lower blood pressure, it proven that the users' risk of a heart attack is 4 times higher within the first hour of smoking marijuana. The ingredient THC also impairs the body's immune system which can cause a variety of health problems.
